Skill Certification is a structured national initiative led by OPAL in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, aimed at verifying and formally recognizing the competencies of workers in the energy and minerals sectors. This certification is aligned with National Occupational Standards (NOS) developed through industry consultation, ensuring that certified individuals meet the technical, safety, and behavioral requirements of their job roles. The process involves theoretical and practical assessments conducted by approved assessment centers, resulting in a recognized certificate or license to practice. It is particularly critical for high-risk and technical positions and serves to enhance workforce quality, safety compliance, and mobility across projects and companies within the sector.
